Monitor and control temperature with precision using the CN38S Series controllers. The CN38S Series offers an innovative solution for programming through an ergonomic keypad which uses the technology “Sensitive Touch”. This sensor keyboard guarantees complete protection from dust and liquids in every critical environmental situation. Providing on/off control or PID control with Autotune, this controller is the solution for many applications. The CN38S series offers a soft start feature. This function makes it possible to eliminate thermal shock and mechanical stress (due to dilatation) that a system undergoes during start up. In other cases the aim is that of slowing down the increase in temperature in such a way that this can spread itself out evenly inside the material, especially when the machine is equipped with ‘stirrers’ that cannot be started up at room temperature. The CN38S also offers a compressor protection time feature, where some actuators, compressors, and pumps cannot be turned off or turned back on too quickly for their constructive characteristics. To protect the working life of the device it therefore becomes essential to be able to activate a timer that guarantees the minimum time between the switching off of the machine and the following start up.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It's the Bomb! This little unit works sweet. If you need a 12 volt controller, this is the bomb! I am using this as a fan control for my rocket stove. I needed a higher sensor range than I could get with the 15 dollar Inkbird controller. I haven't had much experience with controllers other than an Inkbird 120v that I used for an old coffee vending machine @ 95c max, and Omega CN7500 120v that I used for a kiln. It seems easy enough to operate. NOTE, the sensor must be isolated. I blew up the first two (my fault) by not isolating the probe from the metal frame of the rocket stove.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Misleading! The specification sheet shows the unit supporting both Pt100 and Pt1000 sensors, so I ordered the RTD unit only to discover that it supports ONLY Pt100. For Pt1000 support you need to buy the thermistor unit!! The product selection tool and the specifications page make no mention of this - this detail is buried in the manual.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Works as needed. Should have more features. Disappointed in the missing options. Manual shows options that are not available on device. The option to enable decimal point is not installed. Does not make sense as it is a basic function. The menu skips over that option. They do not tell you this and do not give you the model that allows this function.

I want to use this with 10k NTC thermistors, but I need to know which temperature curve it is designed for. For example: 3969K

Asked by: Verimod
Thank you for your inquiry. You may use the NTC 10k curve. This would be Thermistors 44006 or 44031 located on our "Thermistor Resistance Temperature" table located in the RTD & Thermistor Reference Data category at this technical reference: https://www.omega.co.uk/temperature/Z/zsection.asp

I'm trying to use the CN38S-TC-DC1-DC2 with a refrigerator and set the "PCT" "compressor protection time" to 5 minutes. this wait-time is however ignored and it keeps switching on and off within a few seconds. does "PCT" only work in On/OFF mode?

Asked by: Anonymous
Thank you for contacting Omega. The PCT feature is only available if at least one output is programmed as cooling. With the controller being connected to a refrigerator, that would be a cooling application. Our Tech Support engineer has emailed you to confirm that you do have the controller programmed for cooling and help resolve this for you.
