OMEGA™ twisted/shielded thermocouple wire is ideal for systems sensitive to induced voltage and electrical noise. The wire conductors are insulated with color-coded PVC, then twisted with a tin/copper drain wire. Next, an aluminized polyester tape is wrapped around the wires, followed by a final layer of PVC coating. The wire is UL listed for Power Limited Tray Cable (PLTC) applications.

looking for a solution to read temperature inside a RF Faraday Cage and get the thermocouple inside the Faraday Cage and still maintain the RF attenuation of Faraday Cage Grounding.

Asked by: Gregory Michael McCormick
Hi, we do not have any Test Data for a thermocouple probe used in a RF Faraday Cage, however we do have a Low noise thermocouple probe that you may want to consider and evaluate for suitability in your application. The connector used on this probe features a Ground Strap connection that provides Protection against electrical noise. Please see the links for additional information: https://www.omega.com/en-us/sensors-and-sensing-equipment/temperature/sensors/thermocouple-probes/p/HGJMQIN https://assets.omega.com/pdf/test-and-measurement-equipment/temperature/sensors/thermocouple-probes/HGJMQIN.pdf In addition, this probe can be used with twisted shielded extension Grade thermocouple wire. For example the TWSH-UL wire type: https://www.omega.com/en-us/wire-and-cable/thermocouple-and-rtd-wire-and-cable/p/EXPP-K-TWSH-UL

Does the temperature rating refer to the temperatures that can be measured, or the temperature surrounding the wire? I want to measure up to 150C, only probe will be exposed, will extension wire rated up to 105C but exposed to 30C work?

Asked by: JDB1
Hello and thank you for the inquiry! The temperature range listed for TWSH extension wire is the operational specification. In this case, 105C is max temperature the wire can withstand. You should expect no issues using this in a 30C environment
