What data logger can be used with your heat flux sensors?

Asked by: Navid93
Thank you for the inquiry. We have the new Layer N system with SP-016-1. Part of the modular Layer N system; https://www.omega.com/en-us/layer-n/smart-probes/p/SP-016-Series Best regards OMEGA

If I need to calculate the total heat power through HFS-5, should I multiply the measured heat flux with sensor area (6.5cm2) or total area (9.2cm2)?

Asked by: han2021
Hi Han2021 Thank you for the inquiry. Please forward this question to TEMP@OMEGA.CON. Best regards OMEGA

What is the maximum sampling rate for the HFS-5?

Asked by: Trevor42
Hi Trevor C Thank you for the inquiry. Sample rate would be determined by the instrumentation used. Response time of the sensor is 0.6 seconds as noted on the data sheet. Best regards OMEGA

What is the output voltage range for HFS5?

Asked by: Trevor42
Hi Daniel18 Just under 1 mv at max heat flux. You'll need a meter with micro volt level resolution. Best regards, OMEGA

we are using the HFS-5 Heat Flux+ T type Thermocouple sensor and the HFS-DAQ. I need to add 8' of length to the wire leads of the sensor to reach our test location. Do you sell these as integral cables? if not, can you suggest extension cables? Thanks

Asked by: Keithgm
Hi Keithgm, Thank you for the inquiry. We d not offer integrated cable unfortunately. For the thermocouple side; You'll need type T extension wire similar to https://www.omega.com/en-us/temperature-measurement/temperature-wire-and-cable/thermocouple-wires/extt-tx-wire/p/EXTT-T-24-25. For the heat flux side you can use 2 conductor instrumentation wire (copper). Best regards OMEGA

Hi, I am following up on my question about the output voltage. I need to make sure that my data logger is scaled properly. This sensor has a heat flux range of +/- 150 kW/m^2. Does +/- 150 kW/m^2 correspond to +/- 1 mV respectively? Thank you.

Asked by: Trevor42
Hi Daniel8, Please forward your request to TEMP@OMEGA.COM for assistance in scaling a datalogger or other meter. Best regards, OMEGA
