Ready to use platinum RTD capsules have insulated lead wires welded and anchored internally. No splicing to fragile elements is required. This construction assures reliable rugged embedment, insertion or probe assembly. Tip diameters from 0.086 to 0.125'. Standard sensors and encapsulation materials rated up to 540°C (1000°F). Choose the moisture resistant version for condensing conditions.

Can I trim the leads short without negatively affecting the performance?

Asked by: MattK
Trimming the leads shorter will not affect the RTD's performance.

Does it matter what method I use to terminate these?

Asked by: MattK
The RTDCAP series would be terminated in an uncompensated three terminal connector if the lead needs to be extended. It also can be directly connected to the screw terminals on instruments accepting RTD's.

Hi, Would this be suitable to insert this inside a plastic pipe in which water is flowing to measure the temperature of water? I mean is immersing it inside a flowing water ok?

Asked by: Nima_1994
Thank you for the inquiry. These are not suitable for immersion applications. Please consider the following for this type of application. https://www.omega.com/en-us/temperature-measurement/temperature-wire-sensors/hsrtd/p/HSRTD-3-100-1-10-3M Best regards, OMEGA

What is the recommended minimun hole size for thr probe in steel(0.098"Ø or any other for that matter)? Is thermal paste rcommended? In oilly conditions, sealing off seneor with high temp RTV recommened?

Asked by: LeadTech
The hole should be drilled so the sensor can be easily be inserted and removed and Thermal paste will enhance the Heat transfer. Make sure the pastes temperature rating is acceptable for the application. Using High Temperature RTV is okay as well to keep oil from seeping in to the drilled out cavity.

I temperature sensing in robot end of arm tooling. Is there high flex cable available for RTDs or can I use any cable?

Asked by: MattK
Thank you for your interest in our product We do not have a high flex RTD cable. Repeated cable flexing will cause wire breakage
