The Thermocouple welder TL-WELD is designed for sensor manufacturers for the production of commercial grade thermocouple junctions, and for users of large numbers of exposed junction thermocouples such as test and development laboratories where multipoint temperature sensing of test pieces is required. No special skills are needed and most people will be capable of producing quality work with minimal practice.

The instrument can be operated via the front panel or by using the foot-switch provided. In addition to thermocouple work, the TL-WELD welder is used in many other applications involving the joining of wires to each other and to metal surfaces. This model is suitable for welding wires up to 1.1 mm diameter and has an argon gas shield facility. A satisfactory thermocouple junction is produced without using argon, but where argon is available a momentary purge is automatically triggered immediately prior to the weld to give optimum weld integrity.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Simple, and does the job well We use this often, but not with the argon stream connected. Instead, a second person streams argon at the connector while the first makes the connection. Simpler and it works well.

Can this welder be used to weld Omega T Type thermocouple TT-T-24-SLE? What is the minimum exposed wire length needed to be able to weld?

Asked by: Shady
Hi Shady Thank you for the inquiry. We do not specify minimum exposed wire length. You'll want at least enough to be able to bring the tips together and to avoid melting the insulation. Best regards OMEGA

Please explain the difference between the TC and TL-Weld thermocouple junction welders...is it just accessories?

Asked by: Simba
The TL-WELD has been offered by Omega for many years and the TC-WELD has been added recently. The specifications and functionality are very similar as well as the accessories. The TC-WELD is able to be offered at a more economical price through components used and manufacturing efficiency improvements.

Will this welder work for Gauges smaller that 40 AWG. I have a 50 AWG platinum wires I need to weld, will it be able to do that ?

Asked by: Majid
Hi Majid, Thank you for the inquiry. In theory it is possible. But wires 36 awg and thinner are very difficult to take a successful weld. Normally a microscope is used to make these welds. Only a few skilled welders are able to make these welds with good success. Best regards, OMEGA
