Common extension wire types are made up into standard multipair cables. Each conductor is covered with a polyvinyl jacket, nominal 0.38 mm (0.015") thick, and the pairs are individually twisted. Clear polyester film/plastic sheet tape is then wrapped around the bundle of twisted pairs. A stranded tinned-copper drain wire is laid over the bundle, which is covered with aluminum-backed polyester film/plastic sheet tape to serve as an electro-static shield. The drain wire provides a simple mechanical termination for the shield. The cable is then covered with a jacket of polyvinyl approximately 1.1 mm (0.045") thick.

As an added convenience, each standard cable contains an extra polyvinyl-clad stranded-copper wire for use as a ground connection, or to complete a communication or signal circuit. Standard cables are color-coded. The individual pairs are marked 1-1, 2-2, etc., for easy identification. Insulation will withstand temperatures up to 105°C (221°F).

Is the temperature max range, the maximum temperature it could handle or is this just for the insulation?

Asked by: Richie
Hi Richie, that would be correct the temperature ranges would be safe for the insulation. The maximum temperature range under the "Edit Options" box is solely for the temperature ranges that omega tests at. Although the wire would be able to read accord to its thermocouple type.

The temperature range is listed at 0-105°C. Do you have a Multipair Thermocouple Extension Cable for T Type thermocouples that is good to -40°C? I need a temperature range between -40°C and +65°C.

Asked by: user007
Thank you for your inquiry. The 0-105°C temperature rating applies only to the insulation and not the signal that it can transmit.

Sold by QUANTITY default 1, sold by the FOOT, lower down says "...purchased in any quantity [minimum length 7.5 m (25')]". Select value under 25 (only need 15 feet) to cart and seems to have no issues with this. So is there a minimum? Why is default 1?

Asked by: Miltown L
Thank you for your inquiry Milton. The amount of feet you can get for this multipair cable depends on the quantity you order for the wire. For example, For example if you want 5 feet of the 4KX24SPP, you need to order the 4KX24SPP for a quantity of 5. If you have any other questions, please do not hesitate to contact us directly at 1-800-622-2378, ask for Temperature Engineering or temp@omega.com.

What is the dielectric rating for the insulation, how high of a voltage is it safe to handle the cable

Asked by: Engineer089
Thank you for your inquiry. Unfortunately, the Insulation is not “Tray-Rated” and therefore has no dielectric data.
