  • Measurement Type Strain
OMEGA™ uni-axial strain gages are available in a variety of models to cover most strain measurement applications. Their rugged construction and flexibility make them suitable for highly accurate static and dynamic measurement. The measuring grid is formed by etching constantan foil, which is then completely sealed in a carrier medium composed of polyimide film.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Pretty straightforward strain guahe Purchased to use for a power meter on a bicycle. They are working well now that I have them hooked up, but getting them on properly was a bit of work. I have only done this once before but last time I remember it being easier. I couldn't get the pads to wet with solder for a long time and had the pads rip off on a few by accidentally pulling on the cables (lightly) once they were hooked up. Probably my own fault, but I did barely touch them. I put on a new pair and smothered them in superglue, they are stellar now.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Efficient delivery and high product quality The product of strain gauges were delivered very efficiently such that we were able to eliminate any possible delay for our important testing. In the meantime, the quality of Omega strain gauges is the best of the peer products from other manufacturers.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Worked well. I was able to apply and start making measurements right away. It has been many years since I have applied a strain gauge, but the refresher video and adhesive from Omega was a help.

What is the recommended Wheatstone bridge configuration that you would recommend for these particular strain gauges and preferably one that is compatible with multiple sensors at once? Thank you.

Asked by: JoeC
These gauges can be used in a 1/4,1/2 of full bridge configuration. Full bridge best due to it having the highest sensitivity.

Description and the item number dont match.

Asked by: JBOB
Hello, the description on the page is incorrect, we are working to fix it. Please see the spec sheet for the right description: https://assets.omega.com/pdf/test-and-measurement-equipment/strain-gauges/SGD_LINEAR1-AXIS.pdf Please email pressure@omega.com for more details

We received a package of SGD-10/350-LY13. I was wondering what is CHT: 317 mean? cannot find any information on it. Also, our application requires temperature compensation, where can I find information on temperature sensitivity of the gauge factor?

Asked by: Munsies
Thank you for your inquiry, This question can be answered by one of our application engineers. Please send this question to pressure@omega.com

How much required voltage is needed to get the strain gauges to function/record data properly?

Asked by: joejoe2768
Joejoe2768 Thank you for contacting Omega Engineering, the max V rms will be listed in the spec sheet corresponding to each strain gauge based on grid length and width.

Good Day, I have reviewed your datasheets but I am not able to find detailed information about the strain gauges you offer. What is the maximum deflection of your gauges? What is the relationship with the change in resistance? Thank you.

Asked by: jacky4566
Thank you for contacting Omega with your question. Specifications for the strain gages can be found in the Technical Reference section on our website under the heading “Pressure, Strain and Force Related”. Here is a link to the site for the spec sheet https://www.omega.co.uk/techref/pdf/STRAIN_GAGE_TECHNICAL_DATA.pdf

is this a 350 gage or 120? Description says one thing and the item number is: SGD-3/350-LY11

Asked by: JBOB
JBOB, the SGD-3/350-LY11 stands for 3 mm grid, the 350 stands for 350 ohm and the LY stands for Linear. The description is incorrectly marked as 120 ohm. Please go with description on the spec sheet https://assets.omega.com/pdf/test-and-measurement-equipment/strain-gauges/SGD_LINEAR1-AXIS.pdf

The description says these gauges have a "broad temperature range". Are there some materials (like Aluminum or steel) that they are specifically compensated to,or are these essentially non-compensated gauges?

Asked by: HeidiR
If you look at Data Sheet pdf for the SGD gages you will that there are 3 variation of Temperature Compensation. AL for Aluminum. ST for Steel/Stainless Steel. UNC for Uncompensated.
