The TC-08 thermocouple data acquisition module is designed to measure a wide range of temperatures using any thermocouple that terminates in a miniature size thermocouple connector. Additionally the TC-08 can also measure other sensors using a ±70 mV range. Featuring built-in cold junction compensation (CJC), the TC-08 has an effective measuring range of -270 to 1820°C (the actual temperature range depends on the thermocouple type being used).

The TC-08 can be used with thermocouple types J, K, T, E, R, S, B and N and outputs can be viewed in degrees F, C or mV. The unit is accurate to 0.2 percent ± 0.5 degrees C and has a resolution of better than 0.1 degrees C for most thermocouple types.

The TC-08 connects to the USB port of a Windows based PC and enables the host PC to automatically detect the TC-08 avoiding the need for any complex setup procedures. The USB connection also allows the TC-08 to be powered directly by the USB bus eliminating the need for an external power supply and making the TC-08 ideal for measuring temperatures both in the lab and in the field.

The TC-08’s USB connectivity allows up to 20 TC-08 USB data acquisition modules to be used simultaneously on one PC making the TC-08 ideal for use as a large multi-channel temperature acquisition system with a cost per channel significantly lower than other systems of this size. The low conversion time of the TC-08 means up to 10 temperature measurements can be taken every second, while the high (20 bit) resolution ensures that the TC-08 can detect minute changes in temperature. With the TC-08 thermocouple data acquisition module your measurements can be made both fast and accurately. Simply plug the TC-08 into a USB port on your computer, connect your thermocouples, and you are ready to measure temperatures.

With the included TC-08 Recorder software, you can configure multiple (USB) TC-08s, set the sampling interval from 0.1 seconds to several hours and set the maximum number of readings. You can also tell TC-08 Recorder what to do once the thermocouple readings have been taken - either: Stop; Repeat Immediately (start again); Scroll (oldest recordings disappear); or Repeat After Delay (where the delay is set by the user). Mathematical operations can also be performed on the thermocouple outputs: for example to output one temperature relative to another.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product! We installed the TC-8 on our powder coating oven with 8 thermocouples so we can do temperature profiles. Easy to set up and use!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Device great! Software - not as much. Bought 3 of these last month and work well so far. Using simplest portion of software (no programing, just spreadsheet readouts). Unfortunately, software does not permit spreadsheet readout of all 24 thermocouples at once (3 devices x 8 TCs). Appears to be limited to 16 TCs max. at one time. There is a work around, but is cumbersome. Also unfortunate that could not get calibration certificate when purchased devices, as will need for any certified lab testing.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Does the job Have two in place for testing. The software is a bit iffy but they make it easy to access with other programs. Calibration certificates for the probes need to be requested separately. Overall very pleased and would buy from Omega for any other testing needs.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not actually 10Hz sample rate I needed a standalone logger that can read a single channel TC at 10Hz, bought this direct from Picotech, and it ended up being a complete waste of time. Because the CJC is included in the logger's reading schedule, the actual single channel rate is 5Hz. What's really misleading is that the unit will log temp values at 10Hz, but the higher rate samples are linear interpolations from the 5Hz sample. The datasheet, manual, and SDK don't cover how the CJC sampling syncs with the channel sampling. So it's unclear if the CJC is being read at t=0, then the channel at t=+0.1sec, which makes it impossible to actually trust the high rate data you get from the unit. It also won't run at all unless it has a USB signal connection, so it can't function as a standalone logger. Two stars because it's a decent unit for low rate (~1Hz), but there's other options that do 1Hz better.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Quick Review of TC-08 good product, works as intended. Software however is quite old for this particular unit.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Extension of calibration system Worked flawlessly within our calibration system. OMEGA shipped the unit quickly and all in perfect conditions. Their ordering system helped very effectively to add the right thermocouples..

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Does what it is supposed to do. Does what it is supposed to do. I would like it better if the labels exported to CSV. Using two of these together with 9 K-type TCs. Pretty easy to use.

Is the LCD screen always on?

Asked by: leee
Thank you for your question. The TC-08 does not have a display. It transmits data to PC screen via USB.

Does this unit need to be connected to a computer in order to record (data log) or will the unit record, and then the data be extracted later by a PC?

Asked by: Troyale
Thank you for your question. The TC-08 is real-time to PC which is logging data. If you would like an 8 channel stand-alone Data Logger logger than you may want to consider a OM-CP-OCTTCTEMP-A2-https://www.omega.com/en-us/control-and-monitoring-devices/data-loggers/om-cp-xtctemp-series/p/OM-CP-OCTTCTEMP-A2?searchterm=om-cp-
