The FDT-25W ultrasonic flow meter is designed to measure the fluid velocity of liquid within a closed conduit. The transducers are a non-contacting, clamp-on type, which will provide benefits of non-fouling operation and easy installation. The FDT-25W transit-time flow meter utilizes two transducers that function as both ultrasonic transmitters and receivers. The transducers are clamped on the outside of a closed pipe at a specific distance from each other. The transducers can be mounted in V-method where the sound transverses the pipe twice, or W-method where the sound transverses the pipe four times, or in Z-method where the transducers are mounted on opposite sides of the pipe and the sound crosses the pipe once. This selection of the mounting method depends on pipe and liquid characteristics. The flow meter operates by alternately transmitting and receiving a frequency modulated burst of sound energy between the two transducers and measuring the transit time that it takes for sound to travel between the two transducers. The difference in the transit time measured is directly and exactly related to the velocity of the liquid in the pipe. The FDT-25W can be used for metallic, plastic and rubber tubes. Applications include Running Water, HAVC, Water Conservation, Metallurgy, Chemical Industry, Machinery, Energy.

FDT25W comes complete with:
1 ea. Wall Mounted Ultrasonic Flow Meter
2 ea. Standard Clamp on Transducers for Pipe Sizes 3/4" to 4"
1 ea. Hexagonal Wrench
2 ea. Steel clamps
1 ea. Acoustic gel for Standard Transducers
Transducers for larger pipe sizes and extended temperature ranges are available in the Accessories Section for an additional charge.

Our data collection system has a powered 4-20mA loop, this device also has a powered 4-20mA loop, is there a way to turn off the power to the loop in the FDT-25W and let our DAQ power the loop?

Asked by: Electrical Engineer
Thank you for your inquiry! The FDT-25W can be wired for an active or passive 4-20 loop. If power is supplied by the data acquisition system you will use 23 (AO+) and 25 (LPIN) rather than 23 and 24.

Does the unit come with the red/ blue transducer cables? It does not show up under "whats included" and the model number "TCH" is not under the accessories page.

Asked by: dwilson01
Thank you for your inquiry. The transducer is included for pipe diameters from 3/4 to 4 inch which is found in the Accessories Tab.

In ultrasonic Flowmeter TDS-100 Ver18.56. The Menu 2. (2A) "Maxmium Flowrate". It isn´t in usermanual. Wich is the function of this parameter? What we should consider to enter this value? Do you have documentation about it? Help us please.

Does this model FDT-25W work on ductile iron pipe (18.75mm thick) having inner lining of cement mortar (12.5 mm thick)?

Asked by: Anonymous
Thank you for your inquiry about the ultrasonic flow meter. Unfortunately, it will not work as a result of the liner indicated.

We are using a doppler flow meter but the clenliness of the water varies quite a bit and when it is too clean we don't get accurate readings. How dirty can the water get and still be read accuratly with transit time?

Asked by: Chuck B
Thank you for your inquiry about the Transit Time ultrasonic flow meter. Transit Time works best when the liquid is clean or below 100 microns in particle size AND less than 100 ppm in concentration. In the event there is some suspended particles, it will not detect it since it is very small.

Good afternoon. When there is no liquid circulation in the pipe and the meter also indicates a instant value of flow, how to solve this? How can I reset it or put a minimum cut on it? BR

Thank you for your inquiry. Please email the Flow Group at flow@dwyeromega.com and can provide the information you requested.

Will this flow meter work with a refrigerant as the liquid?

Asked by: Exergy Engineer
Thank you for your inquiry! This flow meter will work with nearly all clean liquids. Menu 20 in the programming can be used to select standard fluid types like water or oil. For non standard fluids not listed in menu 20 the fluid parameters can be entered in menus 21-23 to accurately represent the process media.

I'm looking for a flow meter that I can move around my plant to check process water flow at different locations. I would need one that can operate on Steel and PVC piping ranging from 2" to 10". Would this be a good meter for my application?

Asked by: Racecar64
Thank you for your inquiry about an ultrasonic flow meter. There is a more convenient hand held version, FDT-25, which is portable and will have a transducer that will range from 3/4 to 4 inch and will need to purchase a 2nd transducer for larger pipes, STD-HM.
